Produced in the Dongding Mountain of Nantou County, Taiwan, this mountain, though not very high at an elevation of only 700 to 800 meters, yields the world-renowned "Dongding Oolong Tea."
The uniqueness of Dongding Oolong Tea lies in its exquisite craftsmanship. The tea leaves are carefully hand-plucked and undergo multiple rounds of rolling and fermentation. After that, they go through a lengthy and intricate roasting process. This process requires the tea master to precisely control the heat and time. The entire procedure spans several days, starting with low temperatures and gradually increasing, adjusting based on the changes in flavor to ensure that the aromatic compounds are fully released and the tea's character becomes more stable. The roasting imparts distinctive flavors to the tea—fruity, caramel-like, and subtle floral notes.
The extended roasting process gives Dongding Oolong Tea a rich honey aroma and caramel undertones. The tea liquor transitions from golden to amber, offering a thicker, smoother mouthfeel, rich fragrance, and a lasting aftertaste. Upon drinking, the smooth tea first presents a warm, woody fragrance, followed by a complex layering of flavors. The sweet and roasted notes intertwine on the palate, leaving a lingering aftertaste. Dongding Oolong Tea is known for its long-lasting flavor, with every infusion maintaining its captivating fragrance and taste, making it a classic within the world of oolong teas.
